Miura, K. — deployable surface foldDesigned a pattern of parallelograms that opens and closes along a single diagonal pull, and flew it: a solar array folded this way went up on Japan's Space Flyer Unit. The pattern now carries his name and appears wherever a large flat thing must become a small one.
